Southern Naval Command Celebrates Independence Day

On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, a Ceremonial Parade comprising 24 platoons, including six armed platoons and 50 men Guard of Honour, was conducted at SNC. The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, FOCINC, SNC. Wreath laying ceremony was held at War Memorial, Naval Base to pay tribute to the martyrs before commencement of the Ceremonial Parade. The Parade was commanded by Commander K Rohit. The Parade was accompanied by the SNC Band playing stirring martial music. On completion of the Parade Vice Admiral AK Chawla addressed the Parade and the spectators, wherein he reminded everyone of the sacrifices of the men and women who had laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. He further stressed on the role of SNC, being the training command, for ensuring proper training of men and women to be better professionals and to ensure that they were fully equipped to carry out their assigned jobs onboard various units. Vice Admiral AK Chawla also congratulated the SNC personnel who had been conferred with distinguished awards on the occasion. All Naval ships at Kochi ‘dressed overall’ with various signal flags to mark the festive occasion.
