SIMBEX 17 Sea Phase

The sea phase of SIMBEX-17 came to a conclusion on 24 May 2017 marking the successful culmination of the 24th edition of the bilateral exercise.  Spread over four days, Indian Navy was represented by Shivalik, Sahyadri (both Project 17 indigenous multirole stealth frigates), Kamorta (Project 28 anti submarine stealth corvette), Jyoti (fleet replenishment tanker), the P8i anti-submarine and reconnaissance aircraft (operating from Singapore) and integral Chetak helicopters. The Republic of Singapore Navy was represented by Formidable, Supreme (both Formidable class multirole stealth frigates), Victory (missile corvette), Sikorsky S-70B helicopter, Fokker F 50 maritime patrol aircraft, RSAF F-15, F-16 fighter jets.  The four days of intense exercises witnessed multidimensional action including a mixed team indulging in force on force procedures proving interoperability. Seariders from both navies had cross boarded the ships of the other navy in a symbol of growing trust and confidence in each other’s procedures.
