Rear Admiral Puneet Kumar Bahl, VSM Assumes Charge as Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area

Rear Admiral Puneet Kumar Bahl, VSM took over the duties of Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area from Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru on 12 February 2018, at a ceremony held at INS Kunjali. Rear Admiral Bahl is an alumnus of NDA Khadakwasla, the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai. An experienced maritime reconnaissance pilot, he has flown six different types of aircraft and is also a qualified ship's diver.

His operational experience includes active participation in flying operations in Operations Tasha and Vijay. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area and Flag Officer Naval Aviation. A recipient of the Vishist Seva Medal in 2015, the Flag Officer has held several key appointments including command of Naval Air Station INS Rajali, the frigate INS Betwa and the offshore patrol vessel INS Sujata. He was the Defence Attaché at the Embassy of India at Tokyo from 2007-2010 with concurrent accreditation to Republic of Korea.
