NWWA Reaches Out to SAHARA Ladies

The Naval Wives Welfare Association (Eastern Region) conducted an outreach programme to reach out to each and every member of the Sahara community at Visakhapatnam and adjoining areas. Mrs. Devina Jain, President NWWA (E/R) and Mrs. Sapna Pradhan, Sahara Group Coordinator distributed gifts to all the Sahara Ladies on the auspicious occasion of Navy Day 2020.

At the outset, President, NWWA (E/R) apprised the members about the tremendous leaps that Sahara has achieved in fulfilling the aspirations of each Sahara family while commencing the proceedings. The President reiterated that even during the pandemic situation, the NWWA theme of ‘Outreach’, has been fulfilled by reaching out to the Sahara ladies. She informed the gathering that a Sahara Virtual Milan will also be conducted on 11 December 2020 to reach out to maximum Sahara ladies. The CRSO (East), Captain Sreekanth, thereafter presented “Sahara Annual Report 2019-20” and detailed the assistance rendered to members on 453 occasions. ECHS rules and regulations were covered by Officer-in-Charge, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). Surg Cdr Rani Malik, Psychiatrist of Naval Hospital Kalyani delivered a lecture on “Coping with stress during Covid”. Finally Mrs. Sonal Negi, Sahara Coordinator delivered a lecture on “Benefits of Yoga”. Thereafter an open house with question and answer session was conducted to solve all issues faced by the Sahara ladies.

The event brought cheer to the entire Sahara families of officers and sailors. The Navy Day provided the right breather for taking the mind into a more positive space in the tumultuous times of Corona. The Navy Week function was well appreciated by one and all with participation by all 139 families of Sahara. The Navy Day also provided a befitting occasion for showcasing the Navy’s resolve to always stand steadfast in support of the naval families of Sahara even in the most trying of circumstances.
