Naval Air Enclave at Cochin International Airport Operationalised

The operationalisation of Naval Air Enclave (NAE) at Cochin International Airport (CIAL), Nedumbassery for operations of large military aircraft was inaugurated by Vice Admiral AR Karve, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command on 27 April 2018. The NAE is equipped with a large hangar, a spacious dispersal and a taxi link for connecting to the maneuvering area of CIAL. Large aircraft such as the P8I can be operated from the facility, which will enhance surveillance capabilities in the Arabian Sea. The facility has been constructed in close cooperation and support of various agencies namely the Government of Kerala, CIAL, Airport Authority of India, KSEB, and BSNL.
