Monsoon Musing III Vice Admiral MP Awati Commemorative Symposium 2021

7th September marks the birth anniversary of Vice Admiral MP Awati, the founder of Maritime History Society (MHS), Mumbai. MHS commemorates the birth anniversary by dedicating Monsoon Musing III as “Vice Admiral MP Awati Commemorative Symposium 2021.” The online commemorative symposium is based on the theme ‘Emerging Scope for Underwater Cultural Heritage and Maritime Archaeology’. The highlight of the event will be a panel discussion between young and emerging professionals from the field of maritime archaeology. The digital symposium will aim at creating a conversation around the lesser explored topics from maritime studies. The thematic address for the symposium will be delivered by Dr Alok Tripathi, ADG, Archaeological Survey of India ASI, with Shri Kedar Awati reminiscing about his father as a tribute to his timeless legacy. Key panelists for the session are Dr Zeeshan Shaikh, maritime archaeologist and ethnographer, Ms Madhumathy Chandrashekaran, scuba diving instructor and marine archaeologist, and Ms Tiya Chatterjee, author and maritime enthusiast with background in history, archaeology and museology.
