Merit Scholarship for Wards of Serving Veterans

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

(Application at appendix 'F)

General:- Merit Scholarship from INBA is initially tenable for the duration of graduation and thereafter for post graduation courses limited to 6 years study post 10+2 higher education. The scholarships are to be renewed every year by making a fresh application complete in all respects and accompanied with requisite documents/marks sheet if, the applicant meets the laid down norms. In case the marks sheet or requisite documents have not been received from the University/Institution, the application as at Appendix F must be sent to reach IHQ, MOD)(Navy) by due date i.e. 01 Nov. The documents/certificate may be sent immediately on receipt. In no case the application shall be delayed. Scholarship not availed during any year of study for any reason what-so-ever can not be made good in subsequent years.

Admissibility:- The scholarship from INBA is admissible to:-

  • Only first two children irrespective of number of children in family.
  • Children pursuing post 10+2 recognised courses.
  • Children who pass all subjects in first regular attempt.
  • Children who take admission by 31 Dec of the following of passing 10+2.

    Rates of Scholarship

      • Boarder Rate (Hostlers) - Rs 25,000/- per annum
      • Day Scholars - Rs 15,000/- per annum

        Eligibility Conditions:-

        (A) Educational Qualification

        (i)Children of Serving Officers

        Must have passed 10+2 and pursuing graduation degree or equivalent Technical/ Professional Studies.

        OR

        Pursuing post 10+2 recognised diploma course of minimum 3 years duration or recognised post graduation diploma course. 

        (B) Minimum marks for consideration(aggregate of all subjects):-

        (i) Fresh Awards:-

        Minimum marks for consideration

        10+2 Marks 80% 75%
        Last Exam 65% 65%

        Passed (children not meeting threshold percentage creteria for fresh award of scholarship)

        Note: If a child does not meet the laid down criteria at 10+2 level then he/she would not be eligible for the Ist year of graduation but as soon as the child meets the requisited criteria at ANY LEVEL/YEAR of graduation or post graduation then the child will be eligible for the scholarship for next academic year.

        (ii) Continuation of Scholarship:- Those already in receipt of scholarship from INBA may continue to get the same by applying every year provided their wards score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all subjects in subsequent examinations. However in the cases of MBBS students the minimum marks required for renewal of scholarship is 50%.

        (ii) Serving Sailors Sons

        Must have passed 10+2 and pursuing graduation degree or equivalent Technical/ Professional Studies.

        OR

        Pursuing post 10+2 diploma course of minimum 50 weeks or more duration at a Government recognised Polytechnic/ITI.

        B) Minimum marks for consideration (aggregate of all subjects):

        (i) Fresh Awards:-

        Note: If a child does not meet the laid down criteria at 10+2 level then he/she would not be eligible for the Ist year of graduation but as soon as the child meets the requisited criteria at ANY LEVEL/YEAR of graduation or post graduation then the child will be eligible for the scholarship for next academic year.

        (C)Serving Sailor`s Daughters and Serving Officer`s daughter if, she is the only child in the family

        (i) Educational Qualification:

        Must have passed 10+2 and pursuing graduation/post graduation in recognised institutions.

        OR

        Undergoing post 10+2 Vocational courses of 50 weeks or more duration at Government recognised Polytechnic/ITI.

        (ii) Minimum marks for consideration.

        There are no minimum marks prescribed. The requirement is that they must pass all subjects of the examination in the first regular attempt.

        Merit Scholarship for Serving Officers and Sailors having Single girl child post 10th Standard

        (Application at appendix 'G)

        Merit scholarship for serving officers and sailors having single girl child post 10th standard has been introuduced with effect from academic year 2013-14 (for pursuing XI and XII standard) at the rate Rs. 10,000/- p.a. This will be admissible for daughter of officers and sailors, if she is the only child nin the family. The eligibility criteria for scholarship is to pass all subjefdts of the examinations in first regular attempt.
