Japanese Delegation Visits Kochi
A three-member delegation from the Japan Maritime Defense Force (JMSDF), headed by Commander Takumi Matsuo, Chief of Meteorology and Oceanography Section, Operations Support Divisions, Maritime Staff Office and accompanied by Captain Takio Eda, Resident Defence Attaché visited Naval Base, Kochi on 11 and 12 December 2018. The visit of the delegation was to discuss avenues for mutual cooperation in the field of Indian Naval Meteorology and Oceanography and consolidate the existing strong bilateral naval relations between the two countries.
On 11 December 2018, the delegation visited Indian Naval Meteorological and Analysis Center School of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology and INS Garuda, the Naval Air Station. Commodore MK Singh, Commodore Naval Oceanology and Meteorology at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, was present to interact with the delegation on professional matters.
The JMSDF delegation called on Rear Admiral K Swaminathan, VSM, Chief Staff Officer (Training), Southern Naval Command on 12 December 2018 and held discussions on Meteorology and Oceanography as also other areas of cooperation followed byl were exchange of mementoes during the interaction.
India and Japan have close relations and continue its strengthen economic and cultural ties. Exchange of high level military delegation visits and interaction between the navies is expected to further boost their bilateral relationship and defence cooperation.
