International Officers Visits Kochi

A delegation of 23 International Officers, undergoing the 59th National Defence College (NDC) Course, are on a visit to Southern Naval Command, Kochi from 12-14 July 2019. The delegation is led by Air Vice Marshal BV Upadhyay, VM and accompanied by Captain Mangal Kakkad as Overall Coordinator.

The Delegation Leader, Coordinator and Course Senior called on Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command and discussed matters of mutual interest, which was followed by exchange of mementos. The delegation was also given a brief on the training activities of Southern Naval Command on 12 July 2019. They were thereafter taken for a walk around the Navigation and Direction School, where they were given a practical demonstration on the Ship Handling Simulator. In the afternoon, the delegation was given an insight into the history and culture of South India, with an organised visit to the Folklore Museum at Thevara.

On 13 July 2019, the delegation will first visit the  Survival and Training Facility at INS Garuda, where survival training for aircrew at sea will be demonstrated. This will be followed by a visit to the Damage Control Training Facility ‘Avinash’ to witness a demonstration on controlling damage to the hull, leading to flooding, onboard ships, they will also visit the Anti-Submarine Warfare School and Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology. The delegation will depart Kochi for Hyderabad on 14 July 2019.
