Indian Navy Renders Assistance for Grounded Ship

Following a request from Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) authorities, Indian Navy rendered support towards salvage of MV Nu-Shi Nalini, which had run aground off Dona Paula at Goa. The vessel is reported to be carrying 2,000 MT of Naphtha and 50 T fuel. MPT requested the Navy to winch down a team of salvage experts to undertake a survey of the vessel since prevailing weather and heavy seas did not allow any boats to reach the vessel. The Indian Navy launched an Advanced Light Helicopter for the mission and winched down four personnel on board MV Nu-Shi Nalini in the afternoon, amidst heavy sea swell and winds up to speeds of 60 kmph. The team was led by a member from Director General Shipping and comprised three other experts.
