Indian Naval Ships Traverse Through Challenger Deep, Enroute to Guam, US

Indian Naval Ships Shakti, Sahyadri and Kamorta of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet are traversing through the western part of the North Pacific Ocean, enroute to Guam, USA, to participate in Exercise Malabar-18. During the passage, the ships sailed over Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, which is the deepest point on the planet at a depth of 10,920 metres and is about 2,000 metres more than the height of Mount Everest. Malabar-18 is the 22nd edition of the exercise, to be held off Guam and includes professional interactions in harbour from 07 to 10 June 2018 and sea phase comprising ships and aircraft of the Indian, US and Japanese navies from 11 to 16 June 2018.
