Convocation Ceremony Held at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala
100 Midshipmen of 97th Indian Naval Academy (INA) Course were awarded B.Tech degree by the Chief Guest, Dr. TG Sitharam, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, at the Convocation Ceremony held at INA in presence of their parents and guardians on 29 November 2019. Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, Commandant, INA, Rear Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor INA, and Rear Admiral Amit Vikram, Principal INA, Officers and Professorial Cadre Officers graced the occasion.
The ceremony marked the culmination of a strenuous four year training regimen, wherein the All India Council for Technical Education accredited B.Tech degree program is run simultaneously with a demanding curriculum of Navy specific military subjects and a rigorous outdoor and physical training curriculum. The graduating Midshipmen acquired their B.Tech degree in one of the three streams viz., Applied Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The graduating Midshipmen also include two trainees from Sri Lanka Navy.
The Chief Guest congratulated the graduating Midshipmen, their parents as well as their Instructors and staff at INA. He administered the Convocation Oath and awarded trophies to meritorious Midshipmen. The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy’ for the Midshipman adjudged best in Applied Electronics and Communication stream was awarded to Midshipman Nitish Sahni. The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy’ for best in Electronics and Communication Engineering stream was awarded to Midshipman Harish Chandra Pandey. The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy’ for the Midshipman adjudged best in Mechanical Engineering stream was awarded to Midshipman Sathyanandh Prabhu B.
