Continuing Medical Education on 'Combat Casualty Care by Paramedics - the Way Ahead'

An Inter-Command Continuing Medical Education on ‘Combat Casualty Care by Paramedics – The Way Ahead’ was conducted by INHS Asvini/ School of Medical Assistants on 05 and 06 May 2018. The conference was inaugurated by Director General Medical Services (Navy) Surg Vice Admiral AA Pawar on 05 May 2018. It was the first time that a conference for Paramedics was organised in the Navy. It was attended by delegates, both Officers and PBORs from Army, Navy and Air Force in good numbers. Surg Rear Admiral G Vishwanath, Command Medical Officer, Southern Naval Command in his keynote address, stressed upon the importance of training, skilling and empowering paramedics for improving combat efficiency. Eminent service officers and doctors from civil deliberated and delivered lectures on recent trends in Paramedical training, management of emergencies in combat zone and casualty evacuation in the three services.

A Resource CD for paramedics compiled by School of Medical Assistants, INHS Asvini was also released during the inauguration. A workshop on medical simulation was also conducted at SOMA as a part of CME, which was reflective of global standards of training achieved by the School, through collaborative learning and highly immersive, reflective and integrated training.
