Coastal Security Exercise ‘Matla Abhiyaan’ at Kolkata

Five day long Exercise ‘Matla Abhiyaan’ is being conducted by the Naval Officer-in-Charge (NOIC), West Bengal, from 29 January 2020. The exercise, named after Matla River,  aims to interact with coastal communities to spread awareness on coastal security and understand the navigational complexities in the Sunderban deltaic waters. During the exercise, two naval boats are carrying out a passage from Kolkata to Hemnagar through the international trade protocol route between India-Bangladesh. The boats are scheduled to visit Namkhana, Hemnagar and will be ‘Flagged in'  at the ‘Man of War Jetty’ on 02 February 2020. During the exercise, the naval personnel will interact with coastal police stations at Maipit, Jharkhali, Hemnagar and Gobindgarpur. At Hemnagar, the naval crew is scheduled to visit local schools and interact with Custom authorities also.
