Chief of the Naval Staff Visits Kochi
Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) and Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), accompanied by Smt Reena Lanba, President, Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), visited the Southern Naval Command (SNC), Kochi on 02 and 03 April 2018. They were received on their arrival at the Naval Air Station, INS Garuda by Vice Admiral AR Karve, PVSM, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) Southern Naval Command and Mrs Sharmila A Karve, President, NWWA, (Southern Region). The CNS presented all gallantry and non-gallantry awards announced by the President on the Republic Day this year, as well as unit citations, to meritorious personnel and units of the Indian Navy during the Naval Investiture Ceremony - 2018 held in Kochi on 03 April 2018.

After his arrival, the CNS inaugurated the new Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic building at Muvattupuzha on 02 April 2018. The Polyclinic was earlier operating from a rented building. The present ECHS building has the unique distinction of being partly funded from contributions from a trust formed by ex-servicemen of Muvattupuzha for the purpose besides, the Rs. 1.55 crore allotted by the Navy for constructing the building.

On 03 April 2018, following the Investiture Ceremony, the CNS inaugurated a new residential building for international trainee officers built at a cost of Rs 17.7 crores to cater for the large number of Naval and Coast Guard personnel, from different countries, being trained at naval base, Kochi.

Mrs. Reena Lanba inaugurated new NCS Annexe. The Annexe comprises two Wings with a total of 18 well equipped classrooms, an assembly hall-cum-auditorium and two laboratories, for teaching science and computers respectively.
