Chief of the Naval Staff visits Kochi

Chief of the Naval Staff  (CNS) Admiral Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC visited Kochi from 23-24 May 2017. On 24 May 2017, the CNS presided over the 64th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Naval Group Insurance Fund (NGIF) / Indian Naval Benevolent Association (INBA) held at Sagarika auditorium, Naval base. During the meeting, special impetus was given to the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ programme of the Government of India with the CNS approving enhancement of several loans/advances and grants in this respect.

The Admiral besides attending to other official engagements also inaugurated a building for the accommodation of Single Officers at INS Dronacharya and Single Sailors Accommodation for 360 men at Naval base during his visit.

NGIF, a self contributory scheme, is mandated to provide life Insurance cover to serving personnel of Indian Navy and Coast Guard. Similarly, INBA is a benevolent association to look after the welfare of serving / retired Naval personnel by providing financial assistance for personal requirements.

Earlier, the CNS, accompanied by Mrs.Reena Lanba, president Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) was received by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral AR Karve, AVSM on his arrival at INS Garuda on 23 May 2017.The Admiral  departed Kochi on 24 May 2017.
