Blood Donation Camp by The Indian Navy

A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the Indian Navy at the Naval Dockyard Dispensary, Visakhapatnam as a part of Navy Day Celebrations, on 19 November 2015. The camp was inaugurated by Surgeon Rear Admiral UK Sharma, Command Medical Camp, Eastern Naval Command.  KGH Superintendent Dr. M Madhusudhan Babu, several senior Naval Officers and Dignitaries from the Medical fraternity were also present. There was an overwhelming volunteer response from amongst the uniformed and Defence Civilian personnel and their families. 498   individuals including ladies voluntarily donated blood. The blood donation camp was meticulously organized as humanitarian effort in collaboration with Blood Bank of King George Hospital and INHS Kalyani, will go a long way in ensuring saving of lives. The collected Blood was donated to King George Hospital.

Dr. K Shyamala Devi, Medical Officer, Blood Bank, KGH speaking at the inaugural function, stressed on the critical importance of blood donation in saving lives and the need to build awareness about voluntary Blood Donation. She praised the efforts of the invaluable contribution of the naval community to the patients of Visakhapatnam District.
