Blood Donation Camp Conducted at Naval Base, Kochi

A blood donation camp was organised at the naval hospital, INHS Sanjivani on 20 Dec 19. Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, who was the Chief Guest inaugurated the event by donating blood himself. The volunteers included many other naval officers, sailors, ladies and Defence civilians of Naval Station, Kochi.

The Camp saw an enthusiastic response from both naval and civilian personnel of Southern Naval Command donated blood in this noble cause. A total of 125 units of blood were collected. The Camp also helped to allay some misperceptions about blood donation amongst the naval community. The blood collected at the camp was handed over to IMA blood bank, Ernakulam for use in various hospitals in and around Kochi.
