68th Inter-Services Football Championship

The 68th Inter-Services Football Championship being held Kochi, was declared open by Vice Admiral AR Karve, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, at the Naval Base, Kochi on 02 November 2016. Four teams from the Services namely, Indian Navy, Army Red, Army Green and Indian Air Force – would compete in the four-day event in a league cum knockout format.

Inaugural Ceremony of Inter Service Football Championship-2016

In the inaugural match between Army Red and Army Green, Army Red won 2-1. The aim of this championship is to select players for the Services team, to represent the three military services in Santosh Trophy 2017. Interestingly, Services are the defending champions in the Santosh Trophy, having won the championship in 2016, 2015, 2012 and 2011.

This edition of the championship is being hosted by the Souther Naval Command, on behalf of Indian Navy. The championship in 2015 was held at Lucknow. The last time the event was held at Kochi was in 2013.
