67th Inter Services Hockey Championship Commences at Indian Naval Academy
The 67th Inter Services Hockey Championship 2019 – 20 commenced on 16 December 2019 at Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala. A total of six matches will be played from 16 to 19 December 2019 at the world class astro turf ‘Nandy Hockey Fields’ of INA. The championship was declared open by Commodore Manish Bhandari, Principal Director (Training), INA during the inauguration.
The participating team comprise Indian Army (Red), Indian Army (Green), Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. The first game was fiercely fought between Indian Army (Red) and Indian Army (Green), and Indian Army (Red) emerged victorious with a score 2-1. In the afternoon, Indian Air Force team will face the Indian Navy team.
The aim of the championship is to promote Hockey as a sport in the Services, inculcate competitive spirit and sportsmanship amongst service personnel and to select players for services team in the forthcoming National Hockey Championship 2019–20. The championship will conclude with the final match on 19 December 2019.
