FOURTH ASTITVA SAMMAN AWARD

NWWA was awarded the prestigious 4th ASTITVA SAMMAN on 15 Feb 19 in New Delhi.

The Astitva Samman was instituted by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to recognize the "exemplary advocate for women empowerment and gender sensitive workplace" in an organization, NGO or corporate in 2016 along with the Junior Astitva Samman to honour and recognise the commendable work done by students of the schools. Dr Kiran Bedi and CRPF are some of the past awardees.

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, established in 1905, is a proactive National Apex Chamber working at the grass-root level and with strong national and international linkages. The Women and Child Development Committee of the PHD Chamber works toward the holistic and integrated development of both women and children.

This award is a great encouragement for all NWWA members which was received by Mrs Reena Lanba, President NWWA with immense pride on behalf of NWWA,for promoting women empowerment in our Naval community.

Mrs Reena Lanba dedicated it to all our NWWA members past and present without whose contributions the organization would not have reached its present status.

      


VISIT OF MRS NIRMALA SITHARAMAN, HON'BLE RAKSHA MANTRI TO NWWA KENDRA, DELHI

Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, Honourable Raksha Mantri visited welfare centre, Chanakya Bagh, Delhi on 18 Feb 19. She was received by Mrs Reena Lanba, President NWWA.

A presentation on NWWA welfare activities and initiatives for women empowerment was made by Secretary NWWA.This was followed by a small entertainment program comprising of the Nwwa song and a semi classical dance recital,all very well appreciated by the honourable Raksha mantri.

Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman in her address appreciated the initiatives taken by NWWA to empower women and the important role played by the ladies in supporting the ‘Men In uniform’.

She visited stalls of Block printing unit, Tailoring and Handicraft unit, Samudri and Sankalp ( School for differently abled children).

Honourable Raksha Mantri also interacted with the Nwwa members prior departing and was given a hands on account of all the welfare work done by different activity groups of NWWA. She showed keen interest in all welfare activities and gave some valuable suggestions.
