Navy Helicopter 'Seaking' Squadron on a Social Mission

       For the the Seaking Squadron based  at  INS Garuda, Kochi –named as “Flaming Arrows”, it was yet another important mission on 22 Jul 12 morning , when they hosted  about 20 children and staff of Evangel Ashram, Koonammavu  at their premises. 

 
        The families of the premier Naval Air Squadron also joined them along with Commander Rewant Kumar, Commanding Officer of the Squadron and Captain Himanshu Sapre who heads the Naval Air Station, Garuda.

      The children of Evangel Ashram and the staff were taken around the Air Traffic Control Room of INS Garuda as well as the Seaking helicopter. The children from the Ashram and the families of the Seaking Squadron played games as well as enjoyed a variety entertainment programme. Later about 30 packets of clothes, books, stationery, toys and food rations which were donated by Squadron personnel and their families were handed over to the Ashram residents. 
 
       Such sharing and experience are as gratifying as flying a mission sortie said Commander Rewant Kumar. He also expressed his intention to continue such endeavours in the Squadron. Mr Amal of the Ashram thanked the Navy on behalf of the children and said that this is the first outbound trip of Evangel Ashram since its inception. The Ashram provides shelter and care to about 150 homeless children.
